2009年度CAEA学会報告(11/13-11/15)：ロスアンジェルスにて

（私の発表を手伝いしてくれたチコ校の学生達。学生達は各ワークショップの手伝いボランティア参加ということで参加費はもちろん無料。そして学会用に作られたTシャツがプレゼントされる。いろんなワークショップを手伝いながら学べ、さらに現場の先生方とのコネクションも作れるという一石二鳥の学会参加でもある。右から２番目と左下の写真は同僚のテリサ。来年度（2010-2011)から少なくとも２年、わが大学の芸術学部のリーダー（芸術学部長）になることが決まっている。米国の経済状況悪化の中いろいろあるけれど、われら美術教育にとっては来年以降に期待が持てそう。楽しみでもある。彼女のワークショップのサンプルと一緒に。）

２０００年と２００１年、カリフォルニアに移って来てから２年続けて参加の後、CAEA (California Art Education Association：カリフォルニア州美術教育協会)の学会から、久しく遠ざかっていたのだけど、久しぶりに参加することにした。理由は単純。今までこの時期ほとんどアメリカを離れていて、他のプロジェクトで他国をうろうろすることが多かったのだけど、昨年２００８年度でようやく例の少女マンガプロジェクトも少し落ち着き、今年はチコの街にいたっていうのが理由。昨年より同僚のテリサが美術教育の学生をリードして、学会参加でがんばっていたので、それでは私も今年こそはその手助けをとロスアンジェルスと遠方ながら、今年は参加することにした。それにしても参加費が高いよ〜（なんと＄３００ドルもするの）。

カリフォルニア州立大チコ校での美術教育プログラム紹介：Art Education Program in CSU-Chico

もう一つのブログ、「TokuToku Journey」 を日常会話的なサイトで、この「Visual pop-culture」を私が関わったどちらかというと公式なイベントやプロジェクトの紹介や報告、そして出版物（論文やエッセイ）のお知らせブログという風に使い分けるつもりだったのですが、最近やはり少し混ざって来ているというのを感じます。両方にまたがるケースも多いので、やはりきっちり分けるというのは少し無理があるのかもしれません。

ということで、大学の美術教育コース関連の（日常の）出来事、特にどういう風に授業を展開しているのかの様子をここのブログに書いて行くことにしました。本来なら日常的なものなので、TokuTokuの方に書いた方がブログ立ち上げ当初の目的に叶っているのですが、大学のプログラムの紹介という意も含んでいるので、そうします。

＊この３章での最後を飾る１０本目の論文。日本でも著名な、ご存知フロリダ大のアンダーソン博士が阿部先生と始められたゲルニカ壁画プロジェクトについて考察されています。来年２０１０年で１５年を迎えられるのだそうです。「継続は力なり」日本で始まったこの平和を願うコラボの壁画プロジェクト。感慨深いです。私自身、読ませていただき胸にジーンとくるものがありました。

NAEA出版の批評文(其の一）：Globalization, Art, and Education

今年の６月、ちょうど日本に帰国してアマミーナプロジェクトの準備中、NAEA (National Art Education Association)　の出版部マネージャ（Manager, NAEA Publications）のLynn Ezellから一通のメールが届いた。イリノイ大の恩師であるベッティー　デラクルーズ博士（Dr. Betsy Delacruz)　の編集する本「Globalization, Art, and Education　（Elizabeth Manley Delacruz, Alice Arnold, Ann Kuo, and Michael Parsons　編集）」の批評を書いてほしいというもの。４章からなる大作である。

各章をそれぞれの批評者がおり、私は３章「Section III: Global and Local Youth Cultures & Sites, and Online and On-Site School Practices with Young People（研究論文１０本）」の担当とのこと。

そういえば、昨年春当の本人ベッティーから公募のお誘いを受けていたような、2008年夏は別件で忙しく結局公募に参加できなかった記憶が、、、論文の代わりに批評文をということかしら？と思いながら、担当の第三章の主題タイトルを見ると「子ども文化におけるローカル化とグローバリゼーション」についての論文集のよう。現在子ども社会＆文化に影響のあるヴィジュアルカルチャー（特にマンガね）について主に論文を書いているということで、どうも私に白羽の矢がたったみたい。

メールには、招待を受けてくれるかどうかの返事と、出来る場合は、７／２６までにメールにて文を送付してほしいと書いてある。

う〜７／２６と言えば、アマミーナプロジェクトの一つ「少女マンガ特別三人展」の最終日、それにその後の東京での４コマアート展示会の準備も引き続きあるし、とても無理 (>_<,,,)。「名誉なことなので、お引き受けしたいのは山々だけど、、」、という風に事情を説明する返答をすぐに送付。すると私のスケジュールに同情してくれたのか、８月初旬まで待ってくれるとのメールがすぐに飛び込んで来た。うっこれは断れない。ということで、引き受けることに。結局日本では書ききれずに、さらに猶予をいただいて、チコの街に帰って来てから、やっと先日書き終えました。

下記のその私の書いた「Blurb（本の宣伝文）」。先にMichael Bitz　博士の本の宣伝文（「Manga High!」 ハーバード大学出版）を書かせてもらったことがありましたが、これが二回目の経験になります。今回は１０本の論文を読む事になったので、前回より少し大変でした。が、現在美術教育の中で話題になっているグローバリザーションについての各国の視点での考察を読み比べることができたのはラッキーでした。（それにしてもこれらの執筆者の多くが世界の子ども社会＆文化に日本のマンガの影響について語っているのに、、、あーそれなのにそれなのに、その肝心の日本からの執筆がなかったのはかえすがえすも残念。ベッツィーのお誘いの意味がようやく理解できました。貢献できなくて、ごめんなさーい。この次はきっと書きます。）
